I was speaking
with one of the mall charity
collectors at our local shopping centre who frequently buttonhole
shoppers with pleas to sign up for contributions to all manner of
causes.
We got onto the topic of belief in Jesus Christ, the Messiah.
Who did she think He was?
After the collector told me that she wasn't a Christian, she also told me that all religions were the same because they all have a belief in one supreme god.
Of course her statement was almost recklessly incorrect although commonly believed.
The worker was evading the issue of considering Jesus Christ as the Way to God the Father. Evasion is the enemy of coming to know the truth of the gospel. Her reasoning by implication was: 'If all the religions are acknowledging in worship a supreme Being then we don't really have to bother examining the claims of Jesus called Messiah?'
However, in any case, we know my interlocutor's rejoinder to my question arises from common ignorance.
We know this from everyday experience. For just ask any Muslim if they consider Christians to be worshipping the supreme God just as Muslim is doing! He would say No because Allah is a unitary God and Mohammed is his prophet. But Christians believe God is a community of persons, that the Son of God came to earth as Jesus called Christ.
Or ask a Muslim the same question about Hindus or vice versa. Or an Orthodox Jew the same question concerning the other religions mentioned.

However . . . .
Out of such discussion comes a critical question that I will open up for your consideration next time.
